This programme came from project initiated by the Taiwan International Documentary Festival, through which archive material and found footage of avant-garde films from the 1960s was restored. Much of the material had no sound, having been damaged over time. In putting this programme together, I worked in collaboration with London based record label Rocket Girl to create a soundtrack to accompany the films, featuring tracks by Pieter Nooten, Eat Lights Become Lights and Transient Waves.
The programme comprised the following films:
A Morning in Taipei (21 mins)
Modern Poetry (11 mins)
Life Continued (14 mins)
A feature film from the project was also shown, The End of the Track (1970) by Mou Tun-fei, a significant Taiwan filmmaker of the period, who sadly passed away only a few days before this screening.
